Our history is your history.

For the next 125 days, leading up to the July 25 anniversary date for when what would one day become the Times-News was born, we will produce brief glimpses back at historic events that marked or shaped Alamance County, its cities and towns.

Led by editor emeritus Don Bolden and managing editor Jay Ashley, the series will highlight events covered by this newspaper from our birth year of 1887 to now.

The project, similar in scope to a series produced by Jay Ashley two years ago marking the 100th birthday of the Dentzel carousel at City Park, won’t follow any particular chronological order. Items are being selected for inclusion by Bolden and Ashley with advice from historian Walter Boyd. We are also asking for readers to participate by sending in their suggestions or photos. Readers who wish to contribute can contact Jay Ashley (jashley@thetimesnews.com).
As we count down the days to the anniversary, we want our readers to remember this isn’t just a house party. It’s a celebration for all.

Our party, is your party. Feel free to join us.
